Picking FRESH AVOCADOS – How to know when your avocado is ripe?
Love avocados? THIS IS FOR YOU!
Picking avocados can be a daunting task as avocados are very different from other fruits. Instead of ripening on trees, they ripen or “soften” after they have been harvested.
Here’s 6 quick tips on how to pick the perfect avocado:
1.Feel the top of the avacado, if it’s soft, it’s ripe!

Never press the sides of the avocado, it’ll cause the insides to darken.
2.The larger the avocado, the better it tastes

Large avocados are less green at the sides.
3.Pick rounder avocados

Large, round avocados tend to taste better.
4.Ripen your avocados faster

Store your avocados with apples, pears, or bananas. This quickens the riping process!
5.Unripe, Ripe, Too ripe

- Unripe avocados have easily removable stems.
- Ripe avacados have green stems.
- An avacado is too ripe when its stem is brown.
6.Firm, Breaking, Ripe and Over-ripe

- Firm (4-5 days)
- Breaking (1-2 days)
- Ripe (Ready to eat!)
- Over-ripe (Past due)
