Best Food To Keep You Full During ‘Bulan Puasa’ | Wanpaku Sandwich?

You definitely need the energy to stay ready to take on the day during this month of fasting also known as Bulan Puasa.

Sometimes it can be a little troublesome thinking what to eat to help you feel full throughout the day. Well we got some suggestions for you. And the main ingredient is bread to make various delicious sandwiches! 

Why sandwich? Because you can customise the fillings as you please! That’s the beauty of sandwiches. Most importantly, all these various fillings will be able to keep you satisfied and full while you are on ‘puasa’.

1. Cheesy Sausage French Toast Recipe

The most favorited combo – cheese and sausages!

Ingredients:

  • Sausage
  • White bread
  • Mayonnaise
  • Cheese
  • Egg
  • Black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Fry the sausage and cut it into small disks.
  2. Spread the mayonnaise on the bread.
  3. Add the cheese and sausages.
  4. Cover with another slice of bread.
  5. In a bowl, beat eggs that are mixed with black pepper.
  6. Dip the sandwich into the egg mixture and fry them!

2. Nutella French Toast Recipe

Nutella for breakfast is always loved! Plus you can add bananas to this if you like.

Ingredients:

  • White bread
  • 2 Eggs
  • Nutella
  • Butter
  • 1 tbsp Milk
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla essence

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, add eggs, vanilla essence, milk and sugar. Beat until well combined.
  2. Spread Nutella on white bread. Then add another slice of bread to make a sandwich.
  3. Dip the sandwich into the egg and fry it!

3. Teriyaki Chicken Wanpaku Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 Chicken breast / Ham slices (or both it’s up to you)
  • Salt
  • 1 tbsp Teriyaki sauce
  • Carrot (thinly sliced)
  • Japanese cucumber (thinly sliced)
  • Purple cabbage (thinly sliced)
  • Green Lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • White bread
  • 2 tbsp Mayonnaise
  • Avocado (optional)
  • Egg (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix the chicken with a pinch of salt and 1 tablespoon of teriyaki sauce. Marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. In a preheated skillet, add oil and fry the chicken until cooked. Set it aside.
  3. Apply mayonnaise to both slices of bread.
  4. Arrange the vegetables alternately on the bread. Use lettuce as the first layer.
  5. Place the teriyaki chicken, then arrange the vegetables on top. Here it is optional if you want to add avocado, egg or any other ingredients of your choice. Use lettuce as a last layer.
  6. Wrap the sandwich with greaseproof paper or aluminum foil neatly. Leave for 30 minutes.
  7. Divide the sandwich in half using a bread knife.
  8. Your teriyaki chicken wanpaku sandwich is ready to be enjoyed!

Glossary: Wanpaku Sandwich is a new type of sandwich originated from Japan where they stuff the sandwich with many colorful ingredients such as various veggies, eggs, chicken or other protein.

4. Cinnamon French Toast Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla essence
  • 1 tbsp Milk
  • White bread (cut into strips)
  • Butter 
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • Cinnamon powder

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, beat eggs with vanilla essence and milk until well combined.
  2. In another bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon powder until smooth.
  3. Dip a loaf of bread in the beaten egg. Then, fry with melted butter until golden and crispy.
  4. Drain, then coat the french toast to a mixture of sugar and cinnamon powder. It’s ready!

5. Cheesy Egg Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients:

  • White bread
  • 1 tsp Mayonnaise
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tsp Butter
  • 1 piece Cheese
  • Black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Spread mayonnaise on the bread. Cut the bread in half.
  2. Beat eggs until fluffy.
  3. In a preheated skillet, melt the butter.
  4. Add the eggs and cook for a while. Add the bread (the mayonnaise -smeared part is facing up).
  5. Using a plate, flip the egg rolls. Fold the eggs neatly.
  6. Place the cheese on top of the egg rolls and sprinkle enough black pepper.
  7. Fry the egg bread until browned.

6. Garlic Grilled Cheese Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 50 grams Butter (room temperature)
  • 1/2 tbsp Parsley leaves (sliced)
  • Salt
  • Black pepper 
  • 4 slices of Bread
  • 4 pieces of Mozzarella cheese

Instructions:

  1. Pound 3 cloves of garlic in a stone mortar.
  2. Add a pinch of salt and mash until it becomes a paste.
  3. Add 50 grams of butter and mix. Add salt, black pepper and 1/2 tablespoon parsley leaves and mix well.
  4. Apply the butter mixture to the bread until smooth.
  5. Cook over medium heat until browned.
  6. Place 4 slices of mozzarella cheese, cook until melted and flip it.
  7. Your Garlic Bread Grilled Cheese is ready! Enjoy pulling the cheese!

7. Classic Egg Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 boiled eggs
  • 2 tbsps mayonnaise
  • Onion leaves
  • Bread
  • 1 piece of Lettuce
  • 3 slices of Tomato
  • 2 pieces of Chicken slices (optional)
  • Salt
  • Black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Boil the eggs for 8 minutes and then soak it in cold water.
  2. In another bowl, crush the boiled eggs. Then add the mayonnaise, salt, black pepper and scallions. Mix it well.
  3. Time to assemble the sandwich with the bread, lettuce, tomatoes, chicken slices and scrambled eggs.
  4. You’re done! Enjoy this satisfying classic sandwich!
