Just recently opened its door 2 years ago in the year 2020, Renae has been specialising in baking premium quality chiffon cake. Since young, Renae has been passionate about baking. Unlike the advanced technology that we have now where we can just search for recipes online with ease, she had to look for recipes in magazines and newspapers back then.
Chiffon Specialisation Concerns
In the beginning, Renae was concerned about how chiffon would be perceived by the public. Unlike regular bakers who specialise in cakes and pastries, there are no bakers in Malaysia that specialise in chiffon cake, until Renae decided to do it! When asked about where her initial thought of specialising chiffon cakes came from, she stated that she has been a huge chiffon cake fan since she was young. When she worked in Singapore, she was introduced to various chiffon cakes that only made her fall in love with them even more. Determined, she started researching about chiffon cakes.
Joy in Baking
“Baking is such a pleasant experience for me, seeing all the chiffon cakes being done from scratch and coming out amazing is such a pleasant feeling that nothing can replace it,” said Renae. “I especially enjoy it when I receive compliments from customers, saying how the chiffon cakes are fluffy and have just the right amount of sweetness. It is one of the best feelings in the world!” she added.
Why Chiffon Cake?
Out of all the cakes, Renae is most fond of chiffon cakes. “It’s lighter, aromatic, flavour all while not too heavy,” said Renae.. And after tasting her chiffon cakes, we couldn’t agree more. Each bite is fluffy to the core and comes with an intense aroma; all while tasting natural and with just the right amount of sweetness. “Baking chiffon cake is a pleasure as well! Though the most tricky part would be beating up the egg white, which requires a lot of time and most importantly – patience.”
Social Support is Key
When faced with problems, she will always turn to her friends and family for help. Especially when there’s a problem that she’s unsure of. “I’m grateful for my friends and family. Especially my mother and sister, they’d often come help out when it gets busy!” added Renae.
When asked where she got her cake decorations inspirations from, she stated that she enjoys looking at different cake decors on social media such as Instagram and Pinterests. “The unique designs that different bakers made has played a significant role in my cake design! Every baker has their own style and it’s so wonderful to see how they come up with their decorations.” Other than that, Renae also takes challenges as inspirations. “The harder the chiffon cake is to make, the more invested I am in making it work. You can say that I’m someone who loves challenges.” said Renae with a determined look in her eyes.
Never Give Up, Love What You Do
When asked to give advice to new or amateur bakers, Renae gave a short but valuable answer non-hesitantly; “Never give up. No matter how hard it gets, don’t ever give up. And when you feel like giving up and when things get hard, remember why you started. And most importantly, love what you do!”
