Shorten Your Cooking Time | For Busy Days

Cooking is sometimes frowned upon because most people feel it’s time consuming and a hassle. However, it doesn’t’ have to be that way actually.

Prepping your ingredients on the weekend and storing them in portions is the trick here. All you need is a few zip lock bags and containers – and you’ll be shortening your cooking time, maybe even to half the duration!

FOR PREPARING VEGETABLES

This works for almost all vegetables.

  1. Cut them into the right slices according to what you may be cooking
  2. DO NOT WASH THEM. This is because they will absorb moisture and it will be faster to rot. The reason behind it is bacteria loves humid and damp or wet environments. So no washing till you actually are going to cook them!
  3. Store them into containers
  4. When you are ready to eat, you can then wash it with water. You can also wash it in a bowl with water and salt. Then it is ready to be cooked.

FOR PREPARING CHICKEN

If you want to cook chicken during the coming week, you can do it easily with these steps!

  1. Cut the chicken into appropriate pieces
  2. Clean them well
  3. Rinse off the water
  4. Store them according to the portion you want to serve in individual zip lock bags or containers if you prefer.
  5. You can also marinate them before storing it. It is recommended to use a little bit of salt, garlic and turmeric. This is because they act as natural antifungals.

FOR PREPARING SEAFOOD

  1. Cut the seafood into appropriate pieces
  2. Clean them well, You can try soaking them in water too for a couple of minutes.
  3. Rinse off the water
  4. Store them according to the portion you want to serve in individual zip lock bags or containers if you prefer.
  5. Marinate them before storing it if you prefer. It is recommended to use a little bit of salt, garlic, turmeric and lime for seafood. This is because they act as natural antifungals and the lime helps to reduce the strong odor of the seafood.
