Steak: What’s the difference between rare, medium, and well done
Did you know that no matter how you cook your steak, the nutrients stay the same? (unless it’s overcooked…) The only difference is the texture, flavour and juiciness of the meat.
- Rare: A steak that has been cooked for a very short period of time, the centre is red in colour. In short, it is cooked on the outside but not on the inside. If you’re worry about your health when eating rare chicken, dont! Because beef doesn’t have parasite like chicken and pork does, so it does not have any health risk.
- Medium Rare: Medium rare steak feels warm to the touch and unlike rare, has a pinkish colour in the centre that is soft but firm and hard on the outside.
- Medium: The middle looks more brown but still contains a tad of reddish pink in the middle
- Medium Well: It looks brown from afar with just a slight hint of pink on the inside, if you prefer a tender, soft steak without any blood, this one’s for you!
- Well-Done: They are usually charred on the outside and no pinkish colour on the inside anymore, to prevent the meat from being too hard to chew on, cook it on a slow heat.
- Congratulations: They are too hard to chew on and sometimes are too hard to swallow as well. If you’ve achieved this stage when cooking your steak, redo your steak.
