7 Best Tom Yam in Klang Valley 2022

Sweet, sour, salty all in a pot – Tom Yam. I really am grateful for the invention of this soup! You can eat it with chicken or seafood and it goes best with hot steamed white rice.

1. Absolute Thai

This is one of my favourite Tom Yam Spots! Established in 2005, they stay true to their tagline ‘Hospitality with a Heart’, because just a spoonful of this Tom Yam and your heart is about to jump with joy! Their soup is so flavorful and it’s not too thick or watery – just nice.

The ambience is nice with comfy sofas under low lights suitable for dates. I mean you want the ‘hotness’ of the food to live up to the standards of your ‘hot’ date right? Ahahaha! They have other wonderful dishes too! From stir fried mix veggies, omelet, fried rice and even desserts like mango sticky rice. Definitely a place you gotta check out!

Thai Hou Sek serves their Tom Yam in a small stainless steel pot. They have the option to order with a set that comes with a drink, rice and some ‘keropok ikan’ (fish chips). Their soup is more spicy but still super tasty!

Their ambience is similar to Absolute Thai with the low lighting but with more colorful furniture. It’s cozy and great for any time of the day. They also have many choices of dishes, from Small Bites, Mains to Desserts. They have special featured fish dishes that have been a big hit too among the customers.

It’s very close to Wangsa Maju LRT station – a less than 5min walk, making it very popular with both students and working adults around the area. This place is always packed in the evening, so be sure to come a little earlier hehe. It is definitely worth it!

  • Thai Moments Desa Setapak
  • Thai Moments USJ 10

5. Alanna’s Kitchen

My friend introduced me to this restaurant and I was so thankful. It’s a small restaurant around Pandan Indah with a really cozy environment. They have lots of Asian and Western dishes that are pretty good. The Tom Yam here is mild with just the right amount of ‘kick’! It feels like home cooked food.

It’s very clean and peaceful with light music playing in the background. They also have cakes here! Some of their popular flavors are the Oreo Cheesecake, Lemon Cheese and Mocha Mousse.I think it’s an absolutely great addition because it’s great to have some sweet treats after some spicy Tom Yam!

6. VeryThai Mookata

Another Tom Yam joint that has been increasingly popular. Located in Sunway Pyramid, this place is always packed and you can see people queueing up. You can enjoy Tom Yam here and order ingredients to add on into the hot pot.

Some comments were that it is kinda pricey but worth it due to the big portion.

This stall is literally a hidden gem because it’s like a treasure waiting to be discovered. The Tom Yam is so full of flavor and aromatic.
