Best Egg Tarts In Puchong | Oriental Kopi Shop Puchong

Located in the heart of Puchong, you’ll notice a coffee shop that is often queued with long lines of people as soon as the shop opens; and the queue never seems to stop. You might be wondering; is this coffee shop a big deal? How delicious exactly, is their food delicious enough for people to be willing to queue in long lines? It’s the Oriental Kopi Shop!

Located in Bandar Puteri in Puchong, the coffee shop has only opened its door a few months back, and business has only been booming ever since. When we arrived, there was already a queue, even though we visited the shop as early as 10 am!

When we first enter the shop, the place has already been filled with customers. Every table is full and the place is busy with all the workers working frantically all while still providing us with great, quality service!

Other than customers who are having their breakfast in the shop, there are also long queues of customers who are looking to “tapao” their breakfast. When you first step foot into the restaurant, you’ll be greeted with a modern yet traditional interior design with soft music that creates a welcoming, warm ambience. At the sides, there is a large case of rows and rows of egg tarts that are so attractive and delicious looking that you will not be able to ignore them even if you try to!

The counter features a see-through glass so you can see the chef in action, filling each egg tarts with generous filling in a fast, precise yet gentle manner. At the back, rows and rows of egg tarts are being baked and cooked to perfection, the smell of the egg tarts are heavenly to say the least.

After seating, we were greeted by the friendly staff that enthusiastically introduced some of their signature dishes, and there’s a lot! Their menu is one of the most attractively designed menus that we have seen, our mouths were watering while looking through the menu, everything just looks so good!

We have decided to try some of their signature dishes which are the Chicken Hor Fun, Penang Prawn curry mee, nasi lemak; and their pastry dishes such as the Kaya Butter Toast, Polo Bun and Egg Tart. We even tried their desserts such as the Cendol and Mango Watermelon dessert. For drinks, we ordered their famous Kopi.

When the food arrived, we were surprised by how similar they looked to the menus! The butter is just as thick, the prawns are just as thick, the poached egg is just as runny as advertised! Now for the taste test.

Of course we just had to try their signature food and what the shop is mostly known for – its heavenly delicious egg tarts that some people are even willing to drive 30 minutes for. Within the very first bite, we can instantly taste the crunchy, aromatic pastry that has a buttery taste and the sweet, creamy fillings inside. It certainly lives up to its reputation! The tart is aromatic, just sweet and has a crunchy, flaky texture. Their tarts are certainly one of a kind! If you ever plan on visiting the store, their egg tarts are a must for you to try!

We also tried their famous Polo Bun, upon arrival, we were surprised at how thick the butter was! They also provided a small can of creamer at the side for you to drizzle onto the bun. Each bite is filled with buttery and creamy goodness, we certainly can not recommend their polo bun enough! Their Kayo Butter Toast is also delicious and comes with 2 thick pieces of butter in the middle as well. I can still taste the buttery goodness in my mouth even after hours of eating it, the buttery texture is certainly something that you will not forget!

Next up, we tried their signature noodles and nasi lemak.

Their Penang Prawn curry noodles come with a generous portion along with two big prawns that taste fresh and sweet! The noodle is to die for, the curry is infused with a sweet, aromatic while slightly salty flavour that compliments both the mee and bihun perfectly. It also comes with 4 pieces of fish cakes at the side.

Their Ipoh chicken Hor Fun is also delicious in its own way! With a flavourful broth base, each sip is sweet, salty and full of flavour. It’s unlike any chicken or fun we have tried before! It also comes with two big, fresh prawns.

Next up is their Nasi Lemak with fried chicken. Unlike your usual nasi lemak that comes with a hard boiled egg, this one comes with a perfectly poached egg that sits on the rice perfectly. With a single slice, the runny egg yolk is already flowing! Their fried chicken is crispy and tender and their rice is aromatic. Pair everything together and you will certainly get a Nasi Lemak heaven that you never had before!

After the main dishes, we tried out their signature dessert which are the Cendol and Watermelon Mango ice. Both desserts are unique in their own way and have a distinctive taste, all while being sweet just right.

Of course we just had to try their famous kopi that is seen almost on every table in the restaurant! It comes in a big jug with foam at the top, they are certainly very generous with the serving portion! With just one sip, you’ll be greeted with the cold, aromatic, bittersweet taste! If you’re a big fan of coffee – especially Kopi Beng, you definitely need to try it!

Our visit to Oriental Kopi Puchong was certainly worthwhile! With the delicious, big portions of food with speedy and friendly service, you can certainly say that we could not recommend this place enough! It’s the perfect place if you’re planning to grab breakfast or lunch; or just satisfy your tarts and buttery pastry cravings with Kopi Beng!
