Crispy Martabak Jawa At Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

Support small businesses by stopping by Gerai Kuih RS while in Kota Kinabalu! If you are not Sabahan, you must be pretty shocked with the food they serve, as it is prepared differently than the ones you are familiar with.

This lovely couple, Martiah Martam and Mulyono Sunarno, has been selling delicious martabak for 10 months after a long break due to their illness. They sell martabak, Terang Bulan (also known as apam balik) and many more.

You can see how most of the filling consists of vegetables, which is why it is called Martabak Jawa. Martabak in Sabah differs from the ones you can find in Semenanjung because it is made with only mixed vegetables and eggs. Don’t be shocked when you see they cook using adequate oil because the Martabak will cook half deep fried to get the crispy effect.

Gerai Kuih RS also serves Martabak with different flavour fillings. Not just only vegetables, you may ask for Martabak Daging or Ayam based on your liking!

The martabak will be made in small batches to prevent the customers to wait too long for it to cook. You can also be assured that the martabak you will savour is freshly made as each and every martabak will be fried at the location.

Martabak Jawa is perfect to be enjoyed any time of the day, especially during brunch and tea time! Devour it while sipping a cup of tea or coffee and spend quality time with your family as foods really do bring people together.

Just look at how mouth-watering the final product is! It is drizzled with sufficient chilli sauce to enable you to eat the way a Sabahan would, allowing a more satisfying and unique eating experience.
