Bubble tea is the new craze nowadays – many love milk tea, especially the “bubbles”. The chewy and sweet texture of the bubble paired with the sweet, aromatic milk tea makes it the perfect drink. There are also other desserts that go well with Tapioca Pearls, such as souffles, ice cream and cakes. Cooking your own Tapioca pearls to pair with those desserts is actually easy! Here are the steps.
- Boiling The Water
The water should be a 7:1 ratio to the tapioca balls when boiling the water. Bring water to a boil first.
- Cooking the tapioca pearls

After the water has come to a boil – pour the tapioca pearls into the boiling water.
3. Stir so it doesn’t Stick
While the tapioca pearls are in the boiling water – stir them lightly ever so often to prevent them from sticking at the bottom of the pot.
4. Let it float

Continue step 3 until the Tapioca pearls start to float on the water – then leave the tapioca balls floating and stop stirring continuously.
5. High heat; Cover on for 15 minutes
When the tapioca pearls start to float – cover the pot immediately while keeping the tapioca ball boiling and stirring them every 5 minutes.
6. Steep the cooked tapioca balls for 15 minutes
Remove the pot of cooked tapioca balls from the heat and let it rest and sit for 15 minutes with the cover on.
7. Drain the water from the cooked tapioca balls

Remove the tapioca pearls from the pot by using tools such as a colander. Then run either cold or lukewarm water over the cooked tapioca ball.
8. Cover in syrup.

Lastly – place the cooked tapioca balls into a container and cover it in either sugar syrup or brown sugar syrup. Enjoy!
