Have a light breakfast at the Kuala Kubu Market before ascending Bukit Kutu. It is a short walk before you arrive at a partially fallen bridge. As you trek further down, you will need to cross a small stream. The trek is a mixture of steep incline and flat roads and along the way, you will be greeted by fragrant fruit trees. The pathways are marked, however as a precaution, it is safer to hike up in a group. After the hike, you can enjoy some local delights such as nasi goreng kambing at the food court in front of Masjid KKB. A permit is required to hike up Bukit Kutu, so do prepare the necessary documents before your hike.

The Lookout Point Sungai At Selangor Dam is a lesser-known attraction located along the trunk road to Bukit Fraser from Kuala Kubu Bharu town. It has a beautiful panoramic view of Sungai Selangor Dam and takes around an hour’s drive from Kuala Lumpur through the beautiful rolling hills to arrive at Sungai Selangor Dam. The history of Ampang Pecah or Old Dam follows that in February 1883 the Kuala Kubu town was destroyed by a great flood caused by a broken dam near the town. The old town has since been known as Ampang Pecah, or Broken Dam in the Malay language, and the new town was named Kuala Kubu Bharu. Today the Old Dam is frequented by visitors for camping or picnics. The river at the Old Dam is clear and shallow and it is a great place for families with children to play in the river, especially during a hot day.

Sun Sun Nam Cheong is a 100-year-old coffee shop that serves authentic chicken chop drenched in light brown gravy and caramelized onions with a side of fries, vegetables, and a sunny side up egg. Other delicious Hainanese food is available as well, such as Hainanese noodles, fried rice, and fragrant Hainanese coffee. The shop opens at 7am and due to its popularity, it is usually crowded by 10am so do arrive early to enjoy your meal.

Have a pleasant experience soaking up the natural warm spring water at Hulu Tamu Hot Springs. The place caters to adults and children alike with 2 hot springs, one public and another private. The private spring costs RM10 per entry and has a shade covering the pool. Meanwhile, the public entry costs RM3 per entry. The water temperature near the spring ranges from 30℃ to 40℃. There is also a children’s playground for some family fun and ample parking spaces nearby.
